RESIDENCY

The Willis Residency

The Willis Residency is for artists and writers investigating the intersections of Black and Indigenous masculinities in their practice. This residency is named after Winston Willis, who at the age of nineteen founded the socially engaged project, The Jazz Temple, a club and coffeehouse that provided a container to experiment for jazz musicians. The Jazz Temple was located in the University Circle neighborhood.

Our inaugural resident was 2020 Joyce Award recipient Shaun Leonardo
